IneaSil 6480 is a low molecular weight silicone-based surfactant that, at low concentrations, can reduce the surface tension of aqueous solutions. It can be used at significantly lower values than conventional nonionic surfactants. Surface tensions of less than 23 dynes/cm are possible at an SPE 6480 concentration of 0.01%. IneaSil 6480 is low-foaming and readily biodegradable.

IneaSil SPE 6480 belongs to the class of silicone polyether “super wetter” surfactants. It is commonly used as a component to increase speed and improve coverage of aqueous solutions on most surfaces. It is particularly useful for rapid wetting and spreading on difficult surfaces, such as those with waxy or other hydrophobic character.
